Bouchard Logs Team-High Minutes in Edmonton's Shootout Win
The Oilers defenceman's lone point came on the power play, and four giveaways kept the night from being clean against Carolina.
Evan Bouchard played a team-high 29:59 for the Oilers on Thursday, and he finished with one assist as Edmonton beat Carolina 6-5 in a shootout.
That was the most ice time among Edmonton's 18 skaters and the most among its six defencemen. The point came on the power play, where he picked up an assist. At even strength he had no points and no shots on goal, with two shot attempts in total.
He also blocked two shots across 33 shifts, and he finished even on the plus-minus line. The messy part was the puck: four giveaways, against no takeaways. That is a lot for one night when he has 22 giveaways through 10 games this season.
Overall, it was a busy night but not a big scoring one. He has 7 goals and 12 assists this season, and this was a quieter line than that pace. With 26 minutes a game on average, he was on the ice about four minutes more than usual.
