Draisaitl Piles Up Five Points in Edmonton's Shootout Win Over Carolina
Both of his goals came with the man advantage in a 6-5 decision that needed extra time to settle.
Leon Draisaitl put up five points, two goals and three assists, and the Oilers needed a shootout to beat Carolina 6-5 at home.
He played 24:25 over 28 shifts, fourth among Edmonton's 18 skaters and second among the team's forwards. He finished plus 1 with four shots on goal, a hit and two takeaways. He also had two giveaways.
The power play carried his night. Both goals came there, one at 8:07 of the first period and one at 2:51 of the third, and he added a power-play assist for three points with the man advantage. At even strength he had two assists and two shots on goal.
That fits his season. He now has 10 goals and 21 points in 10 games, and five of those goals have come on the power play. Five points is a step up from his usual pace of about two points a game. Edmonton moves to 7-1-1 on the year.
