Karlsson Logs Team-High Minutes as Penguins Blank Panthers
Pittsburgh's blue-liner stays off the score sheet while the home side snaps a four-game losing streak against Florida.
Erik Karlsson did not reach the score sheet, but he was on the ice for a lot of Pittsburgh's 4-0 win over Florida. His 24:09 was the most of any Penguins skater and the most among the team's six defencemen.
His line: no goals, no assists, three shots on goal, one hit, two takeaways, two giveaways and a plus 2 rating. Two of the shots came at even strength and one on the power play. A fourth shot attempt went at an empty net.
He played 24 shifts, a little above his season average of 23.2 minutes a game. Through 11 games he has one goal and 10 assists, so a night with no points is not out of character for a season in which most of his production has been helpers.
The win ended a four-game losing streak and lifted Pittsburgh to 4-6-1. For Karlsson it was a quiet night, but a good one to be on the ice for.
