McDavid Feeds the Power Play as Oilers Edge Wild in OT
Three helpers with the man advantage, but a rough night at even strength for Edmonton's biggest name in a 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota.
Connor McDavid did all of his damage with the man advantage in Edmonton's 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota. He finished with three assists, all on the power play, and had no points at even strength.
He played 25:31 over 29 shifts, second among Oilers skaters and first among the team's 12 forwards. He put four shots on net, three of them at even strength, and added two hits, a blocked shot and a takeaway. He had no giveaways and took no penalties.
The one blemish was a -2 rating, which is odd for a night with three assists. He did not score or set up a goal at even strength.
Three assists fit his season. He now has 26 points in nine games, including 20 assists. His power-play production was the departure: his season total there is now five points, and no goals. The Oilers are 6-1-1, and this was one more point on the board against a Wild team that pushed them to the extra frame.
