Hughes Logs a Team-High Night in Wild's Overtime Loss at Edmonton
Minnesota's blue-liner finishes a plus-three in a 4-3 overtime defeat to the Oilers, with one helper to show for it.
Quinn Hughes was on the ice more than any other Minnesota skater in Edmonton, and he finished the night a plus-3 even though the Wild lost 4-3 in overtime.
He played 31:18 over 28 shifts, first among the team's 18 skaters and first among its six defencemen. He picked up one assist, all of it at even strength, and put three shots on goal: two at even strength and one on the power play. He had no hits, no blocked shots, no takeaways, no giveaways and no penalties.
On the season, Hughes has 2 goals and 11 assists in 10 games, and he averages 27.1 minutes a night. So the ice time was a step above his norm, and the single point fits a player who has mostly set up goals. The power play did not give him a point this time.
The Wild sit at 6-2-1 and are still second in the Central Division. This overtime loss leaves them with a point from a hard road game.
