Perreault Rings the Iron, Rangers Leave Columbus Empty
Kent Johnson's overtime goal sinks New York while Jet Greaves turns aside everything else thrown his way.

Gabe Perreault has nothing next to his name on the scoresheet, and he was still the most dangerous forward on the ice for the Rangers. New York trails Columbus 0-1 in overtime after Kent Johnson scored at 3:26 of the extra period, and Perreault's night is a big reason the game was ever that close.
He fired 6 shots on goal, more than anyone on either team. His chances were worth 0.74 expected goals -- a measure of how many goals shots like his would normally produce. That is close to a goal's worth of quality looks. He also hit a post in the second period, the only iron either team found, and it makes up part of the Rangers' iron total.
The box score shows zero goals and zero assists. What it hides is Jet Greaves, who stopped all 30 shots he faced, including 13 of 13 high-danger chances, before Johnson ended it. Perreault played 18:38 and kept getting the puck to the net. The bounces just never came.
