NEW YORK RANGERS
TEAM EDITORIAL
The Rangers enter the 2026 offseason in a reshaped state, with Chris Drury and Mike Sullivan trying to turn a disappointing season into a cleaner, deeper roster for camp. The biggest theme has been structural: New York wanted to improve puck movement and exit its own zone more reliably, and the offseason additions of Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson were made with that in mind, while Joe Veleno and Oliver Bjorkstrand were brought in to strengthen the bottom six.
The blue line now looks built around Adam Fox, Vladislav Gavrikov, Durzi and Pettersson, with depth options such as Scott Morrow, Braden Schneider, Urho Vaakanainen, Dennis Cholowski and Connor Mackey in the mix. Up front, the Rangers are hoping their star core can be supported by a more balanced cast, with Mika Zibanejad, J.T. Miller, Alexis Lafrenière, Will Cuylle and Taylor Raddysh joined by newcomers and younger players fighting for roles. The most intriguing camp battles may come from Brett Berard, Gabe Perreault, Noah Laba and Brendan Brisson, all of whom are trying to prove they belong in the NHL picture.
In goal, Igor Shesterkin remains the clear starter, with Jonathan Quick, Joonas Korpisalo, Dylan Garand and Spencer Martin filling out a crowded crease situation. The organization’s prospect pipeline also got a boost from the 2026 draft, headlined by Alberts Smits, while training camp now points toward a September 21 preseason opener on the road against New Jersey.
