Levi Slams the Door as Oilers Silence Kings
McDavid drives the attack while Byfield and Haula ring iron in a bitter 4-1 home loss for Los Angeles.
The box score says Oilers by three; the run of play said Kings all night. Los Angeles carried the tilt but couldn’t buy a finish, and Devon Levi took the rest away.
The Kings piled up looks and pressure — 40 shots to Edmonton’s 16 — and their chances were worth more by expected goals, 3.32 to 1.81. Brandt Clarke was their clearest threat with six shots and the lone goal, while Trevor Moore chipped in four shots and an assist. Even the bounces were cruel: Quinton Byfield and Erik Haula each blasted the post.
Edmonton didn’t need volume because their stars cashed. Connor McDavid authored a four-point night, Vasily Podkolzin buried two, and Leon Draisaitl added a goal and an assist, with Evan Bouchard collecting two helpers.
The difference lived in the crease. Levi stopped 39 of 40 and posted plus-2.32 goals saved above expected — a hot hand that flipped the script. Across the ice, Darcy Kuemper faced seven shots and allowed three, while Anton Forsberg stopped eight.
For now, it’s a familiar tale: the Kings drove the game but lacked finish; the Oilers won the moments and rode elite talent — and a locked-in goalie — on the road.
