Posts Rattle, Knights Edge Kings 2-1
Marner and Connelly drive Vegas’ attack while Kuemper keeps L.A. in it.
Vegas carried the better chances and the pipes kept things nervy, but a one-goal edge held up. The Golden Knights owned the chance quality — expected goals landed at 3.39 to 2.2 — and the game featured three posts worth 1.65 in iron xG, a reminder this could have swung either way.
For Vegas, Mitch Marner was everywhere: a goal, an assist, three shots, plus a post. Trevor Connelly matched the goal-and-helper line and led the team with six shots, tilting shifts even when he wasn’t finishing. Mark Stone quietly fed two primary plays, and Jack Eichel piled up four shots that fed Vegas’ pressure. Special teams mattered: Vegas struck twice on three chances while Los Angeles answered once on three.
For the Kings, Darcy Kuemper kept them breathing with a 30-for-32 night. Artemi Panarin supplied the finish and Adrian Kempe the setup, but the last touch wasn’t there.
Vegas moves to 4-1-0, second in the Pacific; Los Angeles sits 0-2-1, still seeking a first win.
