Zegras Picks Up Assist in Flyers’ Narrow Loss
Set up on the power play and led Flyers forwards in ice time, but Philly fell 2-1 in Ottawa
Trevor Zegras had a productive night with the man advantage and plenty of on-ice responsibility despite Philadelphia’s 2-1 loss. He recorded one assist, which came on the power play, and finished with one point, three shots on goal, one hit and one blocked shot. Zegras skated 19:25 — third among team skaters and first among Flyers forwards — across 22 shifts, and he had one power-play assist in the game. At even strength he had two shots on goal and no points; he was charged with one giveaway and no takeaways or penalties. Through five games this season he has two assists and two points, with 18.8 minutes per game on average; tonight’s 19:25 was in line with that usage. Plainly: Zegras did the things the box score records — a goal-creating pass on the power play and steady ice time — but it wasn’t enough to turn a one-goal deficit into a Flyers win.
