Golden Knights Tilt the Ice, Edge Canucks 3-2
Marner and Olofsson finish the looks while Lankinen and a Pettersson post keep Vancouver in it.
The Vegas Golden Knights ran the game on process and got the result, a 3-2 win that felt wider than the score.
Vegas owned the chance battle — their looks added up to more expected goals, 4.11 to 1.57 (expected goals is how dangerous the chances were), and they controlled a 61.5% share of shot attempts. That pressure showed up on the sheet: Mitch Marner buried one, Victor Olofsson snapped another, and depth chipped in with Marc Gatcomb finishing his lone look, with Mark Stone feeding one of the key plays. The names you’d expect created the volume, and they cashed enough of it.
What kept it close was in Vancouver’s crease and a bit of iron. Kevin Lankinen turned away 25 of 28 and took the sting out of several dangerous chances that could’ve stretched the gap. And Elias Pettersson hit the post once, a near-miss that could have changed the feel of the night.
Takeaway: Vegas can press and create on demand; Vancouver needed goaltending and near-misses to stay within one.
