Mammoth Outwork the Leafs Shot for Shot in Toronto
Utah won 3-2 in Toronto, and the scoreline makes it look closer than it really was. The Mammoth had the better chances most of the night. Their looks were worth 4.32 expected goals, a measure of how dangerous their chances were, compared with 2.46 for Toronto.
It could have been worse for the Leafs. Utah hit the iron four times, three crossbars and one post. Dylan Guenther rang it twice and still found the net. Sergei Bobrovsky made 33 saves on 36 shots to keep Toronto close.
Clayton Keller had three assists, and Utah's power play scored on two of its three chances. That proved the difference, because Toronto went scoreless on its two.
Jack Roslovic scored both Leafs goals on four shots, with Auston Matthews assisting on both. Sebastian Cossa stopped 27 of 29 at the other end. The win lifts Utah to 10-6-0, second in the Central.
