Vladar Shuts the Door as Flyers Finally Win
Philadelphia finally has a win, and Dan Vladar is the reason. Ottawa had slightly better chances on the night, and the Flyers won 3-1 anyway because their goalie stopped almost everything.
The Senators created chances worth 2.89 expected goals (how many goals their chances would normally produce) and scored just once. Vladar made 25 saves on 26 shots, a .96 save percentage, and he went a perfect 11 for 11 on high-danger chances, the shots from the most dangerous spots. He also had some luck: Warren Foegele rang a shot off the post.
Up front, Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone each had a goal and an assist while playing on a line with Noah Cates. Trevor Zegras scored on a team-high five shots, and the power play converted once in three chances.
The Flyers came into this game at 0-6-3, so one night does not erase that hole. Still, this time the saves came when they mattered.
