PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
TEAM EDITORIAL
The Penguins enter the offseason with Kyle Dubas still reshaping a veteran core around Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson while trying to add younger, faster support around them. Recent reporting shows the club has been active on the market, bringing in players such as Andrei Kuzmenko, Jake Livanavage, Harrison Brunicke, Ilya Solovyov, Nicholas Robertson, Ville Koivunen, and other depth pieces and prospects, while also moving on from prospect Cruz Lucius after he declined to sign.
The biggest storyline is balance: Pittsburgh has not torn the roster down, but it has clearly been adding competition and future-facing talent while keeping the leadership group intact. Ville Koivunen’s long-term contract signaled real belief in his role as part of the next wave, and the Penguins also added multiple forwards and defensemen to create more options before training camp. At the same time, the organization still has holes to sort through, with several veteran contracts and roster battles shaping the final opening-night picture.
The next checkpoint is the September 21 preseason home game against Buffalo, which should offer the first real look at how the new mix fits together.
