TEAM EDITORIAL

The Minnesota Wild enter the 2026 offseason with a stable core and a clear emphasis on finishing their roster for training camp rather than rebuilding. Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, Brock Faber, Jonas Brodin, Jared Spurgeon and Joel Eriksson Ek remain the backbone, while Filip Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt give the club one of its stronger goaltending situations on paper. The next step is integrating younger pieces such as Danila Yurov, Bobby Brink, Hunter Haight, Carson Lambos, Daemon Hunt and David Spacek into a group that is trying to stay competitive without sacrificing future flexibility.

This summer has also featured a noticeable round of roster churn. Minnesota added depth and experience with players such as Blake Coleman, Vladimir Tarasenko, Robby Fabbri, Michael McCarron, Nico Sturm, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Olli Määttä, Jeff Petry, Cal Petersen, Calvin Pickard, Zach Bogosian and Nick Foligno, while Marcus Johansson, Mats Zuccarello, Jeff Petry, Vladimir Tarasenko and others are no longer part of the picture or have moved on in free agency. The front office has also worked through several re-signings, keeping parts of the defensive depth intact while leaving questions about how the lineup will settle.

The biggest storyline is Quinn Hughes, who remains the key contract watch as extension talks continue. With the preseason opener set for Sept. 19 against Chicago, the Wild’s offseason now centers on locking in their top-end talent and sorting out the final training-camp competition.
