CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
TEAM EDITORIAL
The Blackhawks enter the 2026 offseason still in the middle of a patient rebuild, but with more structure and higher expectations around a young core built to matter soon. Connor Bedard remains the franchise centerpiece, while Frank Nazar, Artyom Levshunov, Sam Rinzel, Oliver Moore, Ryan Greene, Sacha Boisvert, and Anton Frondell give Chicago one of the league’s deepest prospect groups. Recent prospect rankings have continued to place the organization near the top of the NHL’s pipeline conversation, reinforcing how much of the team’s future now depends on internal growth rather than a quick veteran reset.
Chicago’s roster also looks more balanced than it did a year ago. The team has added legitimate pieces in Spencer Knight, Bowen Byram, Andrew Mangiapane, Teuvo Teravainen, Tyler Bertuzzi, Patrick Kane, Jordan Greenway, and Matt Grzelcyk, while Jeff Blashill’s arrival behind the bench signals a desire for more structure and accountability. The blue line is especially interesting, with Alex Vlasic, Byram, Levshunov, Korchinski, Kaiser, and Rinzel creating a group that mixes size, skill, and upside. In goal, Knight and Arvid Soderblom give the club a clearer picture than before.
There are still questions about finishing the rebuild and managing contracts, but the Blackhawks are no longer simply stockpiling talent. They are entering training camp with a real roster shape and a preseason opener set for September 19 on the road against the Minnesota Wild.
