Burns Keeps It Quiet as Avalanche Blank Detroit
The Colorado defenceman stays off the scoresheet while the Avalanche close out a 4-0 home win over the Red Wings.
Brent Burns had a quiet night in a Colorado win. The defenceman finished with no points and an even plus/minus of zero as the Avalanche beat Detroit 4-0 at home.
He played 15:55 over 19 shifts, which ranked 10th among 18 Colorado skaters and fifth among the team's six defencemen. He put two shots on goal, both at even strength, from four shot attempts. He also blocked one shot and had one giveaway. He had no hits and no penalty minutes.
That is close to his season norm. Burns has six assists and no goals through 18 games, and he averages 16.4 minutes a night, so this was slightly under his usual workload. His two shots helped his season total reach 27 shots without a goal.
The shutout belonged to others on the Colorado side. Burns simply did his job in a game that was never in doubt for the Avalanche.
