Parekh Sets Up Two and Blocks Six in Flames' Loss to Ducks

The Calgary defenceman logged more ice time than any other blueliner, but Anaheim's 5-3 comeback snapped the Flames' five-game home winning streak.

By MA Insights

Zayne Parekh did plenty on a night the Flames lost 5-3 to Anaheim. The Calgary defenceman picked up two assists, blocked six shots and finished with a plus-minus of zero.

He played 22:20, second among Calgary's 18 skaters and first among the team's six defencemen. One assist came at even strength and one on the power play, where he also got his only shot on goal. He had three shot attempts at even strength and none of them reached the net. He gave the puck away once.

That output is a step up from his season line of one goal and six assists in 17 games. His 22:20 compares with a season average of 17.9 minutes per game, and the six blocks are a third of his season total of 19. The two-assist night matches what Calgary's lineup produced elsewhere, but it was not enough to stop a loss that ended a five-game home winning streak.

The Flames are 7-9-1 and host Philadelphia next.
