Sanderson Eats the Minutes in Ottawa's One-Goal Win at Buffalo
The Senators snap a one-game skid in Buffalo, and Sanderson's name sits atop the ice-time sheet without a mark on the scoresheet.
Jake Sanderson did not show up on the scoresheet in Ottawa's 2-1 win over Buffalo, but nobody on the Senators played more. He logged a team-high 25:32 across 27 shifts, first among all 18 Ottawa skaters and first among the team's six defencemen.
The line was quiet: no goals, no assists, even on the night at plus-minus zero, with one shot on goal and two shot attempts at even strength. On the power play he had one shot attempt and no shot on goal. He had no hits, no blocks, no takeaways, no giveaways and no penalty minutes.
That sits a bit above his season norm. He averages 22.7 minutes a game and has 10 points (one goal, nine assists) through nine games, so a night with few touches on the stat sheet and more time on the ice is a small departure rather than a breakout.
For Ottawa, now 9-6-1 and holding the first wild-card spot, the result ended a one-game losing streak. Sanderson's part was simply being out there for a quarter of the night.
