Finnie Seals Detroit's Win at Florida Into an Empty Net
The Red Wings forward's goal came with the clock nearly gone as Detroit beat the Panthers 5-3 in their barn.
Emmitt Finnie put the finishing touch on Detroit's road win, scoring into an empty net at even strength in the final seconds of the third period. The Red Wings beat the Panthers 5-3 in Florida.
The forward finished with one goal, no assists and a plus 2 on two shots on goal. He played 18:40 over 25 shifts, fifth among Detroit's 18 skaters and second among the team's 12 forwards. He also added a hit and a takeaway, and gave the puck away once.
His production came in two spots: the empty-net goal, and a shot on goal during a power play. He had no power-play points.
For the season, Finnie now has seven goals and four assists in 15 games. His ice time on the night was a touch above his season average of 18.1 minutes a game, so this was a normal workload. The goal was a finish rather than a game-changer, since the result was already close to settled.
Florida's three-game winning streak ends.
