Sanderson Logs Team-High Minutes in Ottawa's Loss at Anaheim
Two assists and a plus one from the Senators defenceman, but the Ducks pulled away 6-3 at the Honda Center.
Jake Sanderson finished with two assists and a plus 1 in a 6-3 loss to the Ducks, and he was on the ice more than anyone else in a Senators sweater: 23:59, first among Ottawa's 18 skaters and first among its six defencemen.
Both of his points came at even strength. He managed one shot on goal, which came on the power play, and he had three shot attempts at even strength. He took a two-minute penalty and gave the puck away once. He logged 32 shifts.
That fits his season. He now has 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in 8 games, and his season average of 22.4 minutes a game puts this night a little above his norm. Setting up teammates rather than shooting is his pattern: 14 shots all year against nine assists.
The result went the wrong way for Ottawa, which was last reported at 9-5-1 before this game. A plus night for Sanderson did not keep the Ducks from running away with it.
