Fox Racks Up Four Assists, but Rangers Fall in Toronto
The Rangers blueline sets up every point he's credited with, yet the Maple Leafs hold on for a 5-4 win at home.
Adam Fox had a night to remember on the scoresheet and still lost. The Rangers defenceman picked up four assists, all at even strength, and finished plus 4 in a 5-4 loss to the Maple Leafs.
Fox played 23:59 over 28 shifts, second among New York's 18 skaters and second among the team's six defencemen. He did not put a puck on net: zero shots on goal, with six shot attempts at even strength. He added one blocked shot and had no hits, takeaways or giveaways.
The four assists are a clear step up from his season. Through 12 games he has 14 points, all assists, and no goals. His ice time on this night was above his 21.7 minutes per game average.
The Rangers, 7-4-1 and now 1-4-1 on the road, allowed a season-high 35 shots. Fox's work could not cover that.
