Bennett and Verhaeghe Bury Seattle in an 8-3 Romp
Two Panthers hat tricks, a Brady Tkachuk crossbar and a Kraken power play that never cashed in on a long night for Daccord
Florida was the better team all night, and the Kraken goaltending did not bail them out. The Panthers won 8-3, and while the gap in play was real, the scoreboard ran even further ahead of it.
Florida outshot Seattle 38-23. The Panthers' chances were worth about 4.23 expected goals (how many goals their looks would usually produce), against 1.86 for the Kraken. Florida had the better chances, but scoring eight on looks worth about four means pucks found the net at an unusual rate.
That lands on Joey Daccord, who stopped 30 of 38. He finished 3.77 goals below what an average goalie would allow on those shots, so he did not keep the score down.
Sam Bennett and Carter Verhaeghe each scored three. Matthew Tkachuk, on a line with Bennett and Brady Tkachuk, set up three. Brady Tkachuk led all skaters with seven shots and rang one off the crossbar. Seattle went 0 for 4 on the power play.
