Quinn Rings the Iron Twice and Cashes In for Buffalo in OT
Sabres' top-line forward also set up Owen Power's overtime winner in Toronto, where Marchenko's three goals weren't enough.
Written during the game · 9:55 PM ET. Final was BUF 5, TOR 4 (OT).
Jack Quinn finished with two goals and two assists in Buffalo's 5-4 overtime win in Toronto, and the score sheet still undersells his night. He also set up Dennis Gilbert's goal in the third and Owen Power's winner in overtime.
Two of the three posts hit all game were his, both in the second period. Neither went in, and either could have been another goal. Only Easton Cowan of the Maple Leafs hit iron for Toronto, and that was the other post of the night.
His four shots on goal were not fluky, either. His chances were worth 0.63 expected goals (how many goals the quality of his shots would typically produce), and he scored twice. That is a fair return, not a lucky bounce.
Both of his goals tied the game, one in the first period and one in the second, as Buffalo worked back from deficits. He played 17:51. Buffalo had more shots on goal, 34-30, and moved to 3-3-1.
