Stützle Drives Ottawa Past Boston
Ullmark shuts the door while Amadio chips in as the Bruins clang iron at home.
The Senators didn’t just win; they steered the night. Ottawa carried more of the shot attempts — 53.8% — and edged the chance quality, with expected goals at 2.35 to Boston’s 2.26. The scoreboard matched that flow in a 4-1 road result.
Tim Stützle turned that tilt into separation with two goals and three points, and Ottawa’s depth finished the job: Michael Amadio added a goal and an assist, and Drake Batherson scored as well. In net, Linus Ullmark stopped all 10 he faced, and Samuel Ersson handled 8 of 9; at the other end, Jeremy Swayman made 20 saves on 24 shots.
Boston had looks. Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha drove some of the Bruins’ best individual expected chances, but the bounces didn’t help: the game featured three iron hits, including one by Geekie, with others from Ottawa’s Dylan Cozens and Warren Foegele.
Takeaway: Ottawa’s territorial edge and finishing depth traveled, and Boston’s top finishers created but didn’t cash enough of what their chances implied — a night where the posts and a flawless Ullmark stint kept TD Garden quiet.
