Draisaitl Rings Iron as Oilers Press Past Kraken

Levi steadies Edmonton while McDavid drives the attack; Seattle’s best looks are scarce in a measured home win.

By MA Insights

The Edmonton Oilers owned the ice and the quality of their chances, then cashed enough to put this one away. They backed it up with an expected-goals edge of 3.49 to 1.49, and a shot-attempt gap of 62-37 that told the same story in simpler terms.

With Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl fronting wave after wave, Edmonton’s top lines generated the night’s premium looks. Draisaitl even clipped iron once, a near-miss worth 0.6 xG on its own. McDavid still found the sheet with a goal and an assist, and depth help arrived from Owen Michaels.

Seattle’s punch came mostly on the man advantage — one power-play marker — but little sustained danger at even strength. Philipp Grubauer kept it respectable with 22 saves on 24 shots. At the other end, Devon Levi turned aside 19 of 20 to make Edmonton’s territorial edge hold.

Box score says 3-1. The tape says the Oilers can out-churn you when their marquee duo is dictating where — and how good — the shots come from.
